Ski Tuning
Our ski-tuning technicians tune and repair recreational and competition skis and snowboards. They practice the art and science of hand tuning skis, and not using machines unless necessary, so not to remove too much material from the base and side edges thus extending the life of your skis. They will be certain your edges are sharp, burr-free, and smooth, and that you have the correct base structure and wax for the current, local conditions or the most competitive wax for your races. Hot boxing is available. They are happy to discuss with you your preferences of base and side edge angles and base structure for your skiing back home, for here, or for your racing. If your skis behave erratically -tips wander or veer off course of their own accord, or have difficulty changing edges -getting off one edge to initiate a turn with the opposite edge, bring your skis to our shop and talk with our techs; they will be glad to explain what is going on and fix the condition. They typically offer overnight turn around on services.
Base Repairs
For a nominal additional fee, our technicians will provide the following base repairs: minor base-fills, filling core shots, base welds, base patches, and edge-section replacements. They can fix delaminations, remove stripped binding screws, insert heli-coils, and more.
New Ski Preparation
Our technicians will mount your bindings on your new skis and prep the new bases. The bases of new skis are not necessarily flat just because they are new, often being edge high or concave due to the base material curing over the summer and fall thus needing to be flattened. Further, new skis need to have the correct base bevels and side-edge angles established to make them handle predictably and properly. Finally, new ski’s bases need to be waxed because they dry out over the summer and fall, during storage, after leaving the factory.
All Ski Types
Our shop works on all types of recreational and competition skis: alpine, park and pipe, telemark, skate, classic cross-country, and jumping.
